Haydale

Profile

Haydale has developed a patent pending proprietary scalable plasma process to functionalise graphene and other nanomaterials. This enabling technology can provide Haydale with a rapid and highly cost efficient method of supplying tailored solutions to enhance applications for both raw material suppliers and product manufacturers.
Functionalisation is carried out through a low pressure plasma process that treats both organic mined fine powder and other synthetically produced nanomaterial powders producing high quality few layered graphenes and graphene nano platelets. The process can functionalise with a range of chemical groups, where the amount of chemicals can be tailored to the customer needs. Good dispersion improves the properties and performance of the host material and ensures it delivers as specified.

Haydale will work with you to develop a solution to your challenge. If you are a graphene or other carbon nanomaterial producer we can look to improve your offering and move the material up the value chain. For those looking at end product enhancement or new product development project, our offerings are:
 Supply of enhanced nanomaterials
 Materials development
 Collaborative research partnerships
Licensing of the HDPlas process for volume application

BENEFITS OF THE HDPLAS PROCESS

Our enabling technology provides a rapid and highly cost efficient method of supplying tailored solutions to both raw material suppliers and product manufacturers. Key advantages of the process include:

  • Surface engineering: Functionalisation via plasma gives the ability to add desired chemical groups, providing greater dispersion and compatibility between different matrices and nanomaterials resulting in enhanced product properties.
  • De-agglomeration: The intrinsically small nature of GNPs and CNTs cause them to agglomerate easily. Functionalisation via plasma uniquely encourages disentanglement and exfoliation of the nanostructure.
  • Can remove impurities from the host material.
  • No acid treatment: The process does not utilise chemical acid treatments which often causes damage during the functionalisation process, which can degrade functional performance, structural integrity and mechanical strength of the final product.
  • A multitude of target markets, such as inks and coatings, polymers and composites, energy, electronics, transport and an endless list of consumer product markets, each require different material specifications, performance and cost targets for specific applications.
