The Rapal® AZ series is primarily composed of alumina (Al2O3) with a 10% to 25% zirconia (Zro2) secondary phase. This precise formulation delivers a substantial increase in both the mechanical strength and structural toughness of the alumina base.
Rapal® AZ is a high-performance Zirconia-Toughened Alumina featuring an Al2O3 matrix reinforced with 10% to 25% ZrO2. This composite provides fracture toughness and flexural strength that significantly surpass conventional ceramic materials, effectively overcoming the inherent brittleness of standard technical ceramic components.
